Well, as you may have read in the mailing list, last month SUGGS made no less than 2 live appearances. These Being “National Lottery Live” (BBC1), and Cilla Black’s ITV show, “Surprise Surprise”.
Both of these events were used by Suggs to promote his latest single, “Cecilia”, from his recent “Lone Ranger” album.
Well, after an initial entry in the mid 30’s for Suggs’ latest single, “Cecilia”, many people were wondering if that was as far as that single would climb, before dissapearing out of the charts altogether the week after.
However, with Suggs promoting his new single on a number of TV shows (see above) it looks as if the UK buying nation heard the single and went out buying.
The week after “Cecilia” entered the top ten at number 9 and the then, the following week, climbed to a surprising number 6!
Whilst airing the new video for the Suggs cover song “Cecilia” on ITV’s “The Chart Show”, the following text was displayed on screen whilst the video ran in the background: Suggs and Madness have written 3 new songs which they will premiere at their Finsbury Park concert in June (no date was mentioned).
Madness hope to go into the studio to record a new album for release next year. Suggs has said the problem is writing songs to follow It Must Be Love in concert as so much baggage is attached to the old songs, the new stuff needs to be exceptional.
